At Jill Haste Law Group, PLLC
, I handle Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases
in the Western and Eastern U.S. Bankruptcy Courts
for the state of Kentucky
. Chapter 7 petitions involve a liquidation of non-exempt assets and a discharge of most unsecured debts. There are a number of categories of property that will be exempted from the case, meaning you will not lose everything during the total liquidation.
In order to file under Chapter 7, you must meet income guidelines as outlined by a means test. Most people are able to qualify through the test. Filing your petition will then result in an automatic stay, and when that is issued, all further collection activity must immediately stop. Creditors will be unable to continue filed debt collection lawsuits, garnishing your wages or bank accounts and making harassing phone calls.
After your discharge, you can enjoy a new financial start so you can move forward with your life. You will not be required to repay any of the debt that is discharged. Fees for this practice area are charged on a flat-fee basis.
